God shows us that true wealth comes from what we give, not what we keep.

The nice things we let go.

The money shared with those in need.

The time spent on others, not self.

Maybe you worry that you hold too tight to things when you should be more open-handed.

Today we honor St. Hilary of Arles, who gave up great wealth and a high place in society to serve God.

He even sold church goods to pay the ransom for people who had been taken away as slaves.

Your small acts of giving are seen by God.

Letting go of things makes room for joy.

Today's Prayer: Open Hands

When my hands hold things too tight,

And my heart lacks heaven's light,

Help me learn to let things go,

So Your love through me can flow.

Like the saint we think of today,

Who gave riches all away,

Let me find the joy so true,

That comes from giving back to You.

What we share with those in need,

Plants in us Your holy seed.

Amen.
