You catch yourself setting their place at dinner sometimes.
The phone rings and for just a second you think it might be them.
Maybe you worry you didn't say "I love you" enough while they were here.
You wonder if they knew how much they meant to you.
Grief feels like carrying a stone in your chest that never gets lighter.
Saint Alphonsus lost many people he loved during his long life of ninety years.
He learned that love doesn't end when someone dies - it just changes shape.
The love you shared is still real.
Death cannot take away what lives in your soul.
Today's Prayer: For Those We Miss
Jesus, there's an ache inside my chest,
Where someone precious used to rest.
I miss their laugh, I miss their voice,
Leaving them wasn't really my choice.
Help me feel them close to me,
In memories sweet as they can be.
Until we meet in Heaven's light,
Hold them safe throughout the night.
Thank You for the gift they were,
Help this broken soul to heal and stir.
Amen.
Touch something that belonged to them.
Feel the weight of it in your hands.
Whisper their name and know they hear you.
May Saint Alphonsus's long journey remind you today—
Love is stronger than death.
They are closer than you think.
