The door slammed shut on something you wanted so badly.

The plan you made with such care fell apart completely.

Now you're lying in bed wondering what went wrong.

Maybe you worry you'll never get another chance like that one.

You feel like you wasted years working toward something that's gone.

It's hard to see past the disappointment.

Saint Ignatius was a soldier who dreamed of glory and adventure.

A cannonball shattered his leg and forced him to stay in bed for months.

God can turn your biggest setback into your greatest calling.

The end of one dream might be the start of something better.

Today's Prayer: When Plans Fall Apart

Jesus, the door I wanted slammed so tight,

I can't see any reason or any light.

I worked so hard for what I thought was right,

Now I'm left with worry and with fright.

Help me trust You have a better way,

Even when I can't see it today.

Turn my broken pieces into something new,

Lead me down the path You want me to.

Give me courage to begin again,

Show me when and how and where and when.

Amen.

Close your eyes and feel the weight of your disappointment.

Now imagine placing it in God's hands.

Take a deep breath and let Him carry it.

May Saint Ignatius's broken leg remind you today—

Sometimes God breaks us open to rebuild us stronger.

Your detour might be His shortcut to your destiny.
